Post Hi, my name is Jessica from Port Hope, MI
HI!!!
I am from the thumb of MI where the closest scrapbook store is about an hour and a half away. I am moving to Bad Axe in about a month which is about half an hour from Port Hope.

I am very excited about the mega meet in May. This will be my very first Scrapbook convention. I can't wait. I have already asked for it off at work. I am looking for a couple of people to go with me so gas is cheaper. Laughing

I haven't been able to scrapbook in about 6 months. My parents and I had to move to a new home that is A LOT smaller so I have no room and all of my supplies are in a tote. I still go online, take notes, and read magazines. That is why I can't wait to move to my own place so I can turn a room into my scrapbook heaven.

Welcome Jessica!

I've been to Bad Axe! I used to have a friend from college from there!

My neice was married at the lighthouse near Port Hope! It's a gorgeous area of the state!

I'm sure you will enjoy your first scrapbook convention - and I'm excited for you to get your own scrapbook room! Bring lots of friends - not only is the gas cheaper - but the parking is by the car - so you can split that up too!!

After last year's Mega Meet I have only been to the scrapbook store to buy glue. You will SOOOOO LOVE IT. Bring friends and whoever has the biggest car to haul home all the goodies.

Well so far I have 3 people who are going and they are starting to recruit people too. I am so excited, I wish it was May!!! I have to start saving up now so I can get a lot of new products. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what it is like. I read the info on the site but it would be cool to hear from people that have been there.
Oh, what are the ages that go?? I am assuming it is all ages. So far from my group I will be the youngest, 24. But I think my enthusiasm is hyping everybody up!!!! Laughing Laughing

Go Jess!!

All ages come to the GLMM - we have a lower age limit of 10 to take a class - and we do get a few kids in some classes! When I tell someone who wants to know what age range most of our attendees are - I always say 25-65 - so you are almost there!!

You will have a great time - I will leave it to other people to answer you about what it's like - as the producer, I have a completely differrent persepective!

Welcome Jessica! One suggestion - wear very comfortable shoes! You will find lots of great items to buy and will do lots of walking and standing.
Check out the other message threads and join in the fun- other people may have suggestions or helpful hints for you.

We do have a bag check if they get TOO heavy! It's run by a non-profit figure skating club and is donation based - we suggest a donation of $1/bag.

It's totally indescribable, but I'll give it a try. It's 100 times bigger than the biggest scrapbook store you can imagine. Every time you turn around you'll find new products. Everyone is SOOO Friendly. and Everyone LOVES to talk to you. Be prepared to make serveral trips to your car to drop off purchases. (and grab a quick snack for more energy). Parking is very easy, right there in front of the building, its very easy to run out to your car and back in. The classes are great. Last year I took a class for every single time slot and they were all wonderful. My favorite's are the ones' that teach a new technique. The Rock is in a great neighborhood and it's very nicely maintained so no worry there. It's very easy to find also. It's huge and it's on the main drive. It gets crowed in the afternoons so shop early and the food is rather expensive if you plan on eating there. Even when it's crowded there is still plenty of room because it's such a big place. It's everything the web site promises and MORE.

Thanks ReginaB
The first time I was in a scrapbook store was in 2005 or early 2006. I was so excited.
This convention is going to be awesome, I can tell already from what everyone else is saying. I was wondering about the food. I will probably come in the morning and then leave for lunch but I am not sure exactly what classes I am going to take.
I wish I had started saving sooner. If I didn't live so far away and didn't have to stay at a hotel, oh my gosh I know I would be going to a lot of classes.
Well since it is my first time I think I will take it easy just to see how everything is.

This is only my 3rd time here, but I totally recommend tailgating for food. You can easily blow your whole budget on food otherwise. There are alot of fast food and places like Applebee's close by. But you are right, it all depends on how your class schedule is. I'm lucky I never out grew my fondness for PB&J's. But then I would eat stale bread and warm water if it meant I'd have more time for classes Laughing

I just reserved my hotel YAY!!!!!!
Okay, I checked out the pictures from last year and oh my gosh, I didn't realize how many vendors there would be. I knew there would be a lot but wow.

I seen pictures of "The Line" so what is that all about?? I am guessing its people just lining up waiting to get in to start the day but wasn't sure what the start of the day involved.
